WHY I LIKE TO PAINT
By Hans Holbein, Age 8

Because its interesting to look at paintings. And when you go to a really big museum like in Paris theres lots and lots more than youve ever seen before so you get this wobbly feeling inside which makes it a nice field trip even though youre surrounded by bloody frogs who cant even speak german. One time I made a painting where it was a picture of a man getting disemboweled. Only you couldnt see it unless you looked at it from way over on the side which is trick I learned. So I painted it on the kitchen table while mama was in the nursery and I broke the legs off the table and I packed it in a burlap sack and carted it round to Philips house and I showed it to him and he was so impressed he got sick but it turned out fine and he didnt even ruin it but I got in trouble anyway.
